If youâre looking for a way to help out in your community and you love animals, becoming a volunteer for the SPCA is an excellent way to go about it! Youâll have to fulfil a few criteria, however.
The road to the volunteer role of your dreams
On the Montréal SPCA website, you can read all about the various criteria to be met in order to become a volunteer. For example, it mentions among other things that you must be aged at least 18 and be able to contribute a minimum of three consecutive hours pour week. Once youâve confirmed that you meet all the criteria, youâll need to complete a questionnaire, which youâll find at the bottom of the page. Among other things, youâll be asked to provide your contact information, language(s) spoken, your line of work, and what kinds of volunteer tasks youâd like to perform.
Be aware, however. . .
There are different SPCA websites depending on the region. For instance, you may have to file your application to a different online address depending on the region where you want to volunteer. To be sure you apply to the right place, simply do a Google search for, letâs say, âSPCA Montréalâ or âSPCA Estrie.â Then, after you click through, make sure youâre on the right site by checking whatâs written below the logo in the upper left corner of the page.
Note that youâll be asked to pay a $20 fee to cover administration costs when youâre hired. Youâll also be supplied with a uniform.
Itâs as simple as that! Now all you need to do is make sure you meet the criteria and fill out the form, and youâll be on your way to supporting a worthy cause while spending quality time with the animals you love!
