COVID-19: Pet groomers given the green light to open

To the delight of many crazy-haired canines—and their owners—it’s now possible to visit your groomer. Except for those situated in Montreal, pet grooming salons were approved to open June 1st, conditional on additional on-site sanitary measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19. The news is a relief for pet owners. For certain breeds of dog proper grooming can be an important preventive health measure and numerous veterinarians voiced their concerns during the closure of grooming salons. Groomers can also play a role in animal health, for instance, by examining an animal’s ears and skin. It’s time to give your groomer a call and make an appointment! (Katrine Joncas)
