COVID-19: Doggie Survival Kit

March 21, 2020

The coronavirus is causing a lot of fear and concern. Everyone wants to prepare as best as they can by stocking up on food for themselves... and their doggie!

The coronavirus pandemic has been the cause of a great deal of worry throughout the population in recent days. So much so that many stores have been stripped of their toilet paper stocks in mere hours. In this extraordinary situation, we must also think of our furry friends and their essential needs. Here are five tips to help ensure your dog's well-being:

1. Stock up on food
With the situation changing rapidly, it is best to avoid leaving your home unless absolutely necessary. Avoid extra trips to the store by making sure you have enough pet food to last a few weeks.

2. Refill prescriptions if necessary
If your dog needs to take medication, check if you have enough on hand.

3. Don’t forget the treats
Although it is essential to take your dog out every day for their needs and their health, bring their favorite treats along. These can be useful if you decide to shorten the walk, or need to encourage your pup to respect social distancing measures with other walkers.

4. Give them a new toy
Your doggie may also start getting bored during the crisis. If you have new toys hidden away, now would be a great time to get them out; you will certainly make your dog very happy!

5. Check your vet's directions
If possible, ask your veterinarian what to do if your pet has health problems. To do this, simply give them a call, send them an email, or check their website and social networks daily.

In this time of isolation, take the opportunity to fill up on love and energy with your faithful four-legged friend!
